Torontos own TKMZI releases his debut single “HML”
When asked about the record he had this to say
” What starts off as an attempted phone call to a certain girl turns into a self-expressing voicemail conveyed through melodic verses and a catchy chorus. Since the beautiful girl in question has yet to make herself known (excerpt from the intro: “I know we ain’t met but I bet you’re beautiful”), I feel the need to tell her to hit my line, wherever she may be, before it gets too hard to identify who’s really down for me; in other words, when I’m in my prime. Although her presence could set me straight & apart from nights spent drinking/smoking, I let her know what’ll happen if she plays me dumb in the second verse, accompanied by a mesmerizing beat switch. With the song coming to an end, a woman’s voice indicates that the mailbox is full at the moment which, ultimately, brings the voicemail record full circle to the opening line: “girl I’m back again, singing through the phone”.
