WHAT: North by Northeast (NXNE) will hit an all-time high note this year as Skylar Astin of “Pitch Perfect” judges a music-meets-movie experience hosted by Courtyard, that will pit three top music acts in an acappella showdown, following by a public “Pitch Perfect” screening.
The music competition and movie screening will take place on the main stage of Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square during NXNE, in a competition inspired by the film “Pitch Perfect,” as three Canadian groups compete to be deemed “NXNE A cappella Champions.” Astin will serve as the competition judge and then will introduce the film to the festival goers.
The experience is all provided by Courtyard, “the Official Hotel Partner of NXNE,” as the hotel brand brings its Courtyard @ mobile experience to NXNE. Throughout the three-day festival, fans can enjoy the brand’s “Barcade” where they can compete for exclusive prizes or relax in “The Bistro Beer Garden”.
NXNE is an annual music and arts festival held each June in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The festival’s main focus has always been live music, but it also includes a film festival, a comedy festival, art components, and a digital interactive media conference.
NFL star Sammy Watkins (Buffalo) will also be on-site on Friday, June 17.
