Matt Bishop gives us an uplifting track with the second instalment of OBM Mondays: Way Up.
The track comes in just over three minutes and is a moderately fast paced track that anyone could vibe to. XPanda produced the instrumental and they did a great job with the production. The highs, mids and lows are all audible and pretty clear providing a good instrumental canvas for the lyrics to hang on. Bishop displays excellent capability to switch between multi-syllables at a rapid pace and maintain clean enunciation.
A trap a lot of emcees can fall into when recording vocals like this would be sounding like the emcee swallowed their own tongue. There is none of that present in Way Up. It is a cleanly edited/produced song about hustle, pride and ambition so turn up the speakers and take in the quality OBM Monday this week.
