The lively and retro-style video for his debut single “FCKD IT UP” is the best way to show this vibrant tune by Langston Francis.
Francis, who grew up in Toronto’s own Kensington Market, is the face behind the track. He released “FCKD IT UP” on November 10th, 2017, and has since attained over 279,000 track listens. The song represents everything that Francis was surrounded by growing up–hip hop, with some daubs of jazz and electronica.
His artistic vision, which he uses to his advantage not only in his music, but also in his photography, is clearly exhibited in this video. Photography, film photography to be specific, is something Francis has had a lust for since he started in the studio. The vivid images and clips that are shown throughout the video truly show Francis’ true passion for his music, and photography–in harmony. Additionally, the entire video for “FCKD IT UP” was shot on VHS tape, featuring some clips shot with iPhone and also some still images.
