Boogie Flats comes from a space of appreciation for the culture, and the art form. Everything from the sneakers, to the scenery. “My mission was to paint as vivid of a picture that I possible could, so that when the OG’s listen, it sparks nostalgic memories but also, when the youngin’s listen, they understand where certain things came from. For me, the song really captures a great feeling” explains Keysha.
With no definitive release date, In Samadhi, a project produced entirely by Toronto MC/Producer BriskInTheHouse, is slated to release within the next few months, accompanied by a visual art aspect curated bysafehavenstudios.ca.
“Brisk was the one who gave me the idea to add the samples in the hook, to pay homage to MC’s, like Rakim on there, and Maestro Fresh Wes drop the needle sample on the second part of the hook. Originally it was me just kind of yelling the word ‘heyyyy’, and Brisk was just like, naw you should scratch some samples in there, So I went in the studio with this really talented producer Nate Smith, and Nate cut and scratched those samples for me in FL” describes Keysha on the process of recording Boogie Flats.
