Broke$ is a nice refresher when it comes to local underground. Rather than boasting about the masses of riches/bitches he has, EverythingOShauN manages to convey a very humble message with this great underground track.
The beat gives off a gentle melodic feel with the piano but still incorporates typically “Hard” effects such as the Chopped and Screwed effect that is present on the hook. These types of instrumentals serve wisdom/life-lesson tracks like this well and I feel that was the style that OShauN was going for with Broke$. Directed by Fatty Soprano, the video complements the song nicely by providing some great high definition visuals of landmarks such as the CN tower, Bathurst station and the new CityPlace Bridge in downtown.
OshaunN seems to be conveying the message that material wealth shouldn’t be the overall goal of an individual’s life. From what I can gather, OShauN’s message can be summed up like so: Spending your time pursuing your dreams is infinitely better than wasting time worrying about being able to fund them. He even added a quote at the end that pretty much says the same thing. I agree with OShauN completely, let us know if you do in the comments after checking out the music video.
