Apache – “Gangsta Bitch”

For today’s #TBT video, we’re getting sent back to early 90’s rap with the music video for Apache’s Gangsta Bitch.

Produced in ’92, Gangsta Bitch is a great tune.  The old-school soul vibes mixed in with the gangsta-rap rhythm helped Apache make his mark with this well-known track of his.  Anybody can vibe to this tune as it is about a subject everyone desires: a woman that doesn’t play around and stands her ground alongside her man. Unfortunately, Apache passed away in January of ’10 due to heart failure.  Dying from excess amounts of good food and fine liquor isn’t the worst way to go, so it is a bonus to know that Apache was not a victim of the street-life associated with rap that has taken talented lives in the past (‘Pac, Biggie, Proof etc.).

Due to the fact that this is really the only well-known track Apache produced, the emcee is a bit of a one-hit wonder.  Regardless of that fact, Gangsta Bitch is still fun after two-decades of time have passed since the initial release.  Crack one open and hit play in memory of the talented emcee that brought our ears this track to enjoy for all these years that have passed.
