BIG NEM – My Wasta

The six-foot, nine-inch tall Serbian giant BIG NEM has delivered another side splitting video: My Wasta.

This video is longer than most with a run time of approximately seven minutes, but the extended length is worth the patient watch.  NEM, a self-proclaimed comedian/emcee/producer has really shown off his talent for the entertainment art with the finished product.

As stated in the above video, Wasta is an Arabic word used to describe your backers i.e. your collective, ensemble, clique or gang. Whatever you wish to call it, Wasta is the Arabic term used to describe it.  In the video we see various skits being played out in relation to NEM’s humorous and at times self-deprecating lyrics.  The visuals and skits contain many nods to Toronto culture (the bus ticket scene) and scenery (city skyline, ttc, CN tower).  The video also features stars such as Dallas Mavericks power forward Dwight Powell and Candian comedian Trixx.  Powell takes the role of Drake’s security in the Habibiz club scene while Trixx takes the role of himself outside of the comedy club.

In relation to NEM’s introductory statement, the emcee had a hand in producing the beat alongside JEDI.  The two did an astounding job as the quality is crisp, the bass has just the right amount of depth and the highs and lows are clearly distinguishable from the rest of the beat.  In conclusion, the end product is a satisfying audio/visual experience that is complemented by the humor and creativity of the skits.

The video also contains a reference to NEM’s friend Tommy, who was the main focus of My Friend Tommy, released in 2014.  If you are unsure about that reference, it is posted below.  No spoilers, but it is basically the closest thing to a real life iteration of The 40 Year-Old Virgin movie with Steve Carell.

The comedic documentary is on a production halt for the time being, but will resume production for release in the year 2020, supposedly featuring a host of well-known celebrities.
