Beyoncé was hit with another lawsuit, this time for her use of the Roc-A-Fella logo. Dwayne Walker, the creator of the logo, says Bey never asked for his permission to use it in the 2013 music video for her hit song “Drunk in Love.” Walker claims the logo is prominently displayed in the video and he wants her to take it down or pay him for its use, according to TMZ.
The logo, however, only appears briefly in the video, and it’s via Jay Z. The Brooklyn rapper is seen wearing his Roc chain along with many others, and the logo is only visible for a few seconds while Beyoncé is hugging him and clutching the pendant. Though the chain is Jay Z’s and worn by him, he is not named in the lawsuit.
Walker did previously sue Jay and Dame Dash for $7 million, accusing the duo of copyright infringement in 2012. A judge dismissed the lawsuit in September 2016. U.S. District Judge Andrew Carter said that Walker was not entitled to royalties under a contract allegedly signed 20 years ago.
